NCC Men's Basketball traveled to Hastings, Nebraska to take on Hastings College on January 30.
Both teams started off well offensively. Hastings gained the early lead but the Sentinels gained a slight lead in the first five minutes of play (7-6). Hastings answered with an 11-0 run, giving them a double-digit lead (7-17). NCC began to cut into the lead but Hastings managed another run of 14 unanswered points, putting the Sentinels at an 18-point deficit (12-31). NCC was able to close the gap to 10 at the half (30-40).
At the beginning of the second half, the Sentinels stuck close, and attempted to regain the lead, however, Hastings' kept knocking down shots and extending their lead. NCC trailed by double-digits for the majority of the second half, coming out with the 68-90 loss to Hastings College.
DJ Hanes led the Sentinels with 20 points.
Devin Jones finished with 12 points and
Matt Lillquist led the team in rebounds with 6.
For Hastings, Bart Hiscock totaled 21 points.
Next, the Sentinels will travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take on Haskell Indian Nations University on Friday, February 1 at 7p.m.
