OMAHA, NE - The Nebraska Christian College Women's Basketball Team hosted Kansas Christian College in the second meeting of the two programs this year. In the first encounter, NCC defeated the Falcons 74-58. Prior to tip-off, Nebraska Christian took time to honor their four seniors.
Jazmyne Santiel,
Bianca Casares,
Jessica Hinde, and
April Eldridge were all celebrated for their time, effort, and dedication to the program. It was a fantastic scene for the seniors and their families to be celebrated at the last home game of the season.
Despite the intense energy in the building, scoring was hard to come by in the early going. The Sentinels scored just 11 points in each of the first 2 quarters, but were able to take a 22-13 lead into halftime. The Falcons would not go away and cut the Sentinel lead to just 5 with 3 minutes remaining in the third quarter. At that point, the Sentinels brought out their press and changed the narrative of the game. NCC was able to create a lot of turnovers and finish with transition points. The Sentinels closed the game on a 42-18 run, including a 33 point fourth quarter to win the game 70-41.
Jazmyne Santiel led the game in scoring with 29 points.
Bianca Casares added 17 points on an efficient 8-12 shooting.
Camry Porter recorded a near double-double of 10 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman
Justys Irish helped out the seniors with 12 rebounds.
The Sentinels improved to 10-12 on the season and now have a back-to-back set with Johnson and Wales remaining on the schedule. NCC will look to finish the season with wins to reach the .500 mark on the year.
