Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Jacob Heck

Men's Basketball Experiences Heart Breaker at Bellevue

BELLEVUE, NE - Nebraska Christian College was labeled the visitor at Bellevue University on Saturday, but it felt much like a home game. Through much of the season NCC uses Gordon Lozier Athletic Center as the site for their home games and brought in quite a crowd for this cross-town contest. The Sentinels gave their fans something to cheer about early as they got out to a 10-0 lead to start the game. The Sentinel defense was particularly stifling against a normally explosive Bellevue Offense. NCC set the tone on the defensive end and controlled the game with a 29-24 lead at halftime. NCC didn't settle and stretched the lead to 12 points a couple of times in the second half. Everything was fueled by the Sentinel defense and it had them in control with a 50-40 lead with 8 minutes remaining in the game. NCC's offense went cold and Bellevue managed to chip away at the lead and tied the game at 50 with 4:33 remaining. Nebraska Christian's defense did their job holding the Bruins to just 54 points, but several offensive miscues left the Sentinels just short with only 52 points of their own.

NCC only scored 52 points, but it was balanced across the team as 5 Sentinels scored 8 or more points.

Nebraska Christian will look to get over the hump against #1 Ranked Morningside College on Wednesday, January 8th.
