DUBUQUE, IA - The Women's Basketball Team from Nebraska Christian College traveled to Dubuque, IA for a rematch with the Emmaus Eagles. Earlier in the year, the Eagles ran away from the Sentinels in an opening game victory. The Sentinels are far improved and looked to challenge a very good Emmaus team. The first quarter was very back and forth as the Sentinels and Eagles took turns feeling each other out. The Eagles edged a 14-11 lead going into the second quarter. The Eagles used second chance points to pull away for a 10 point lead at half. Nebraska Christian hung in the game and matched the Eagles 15-point third quarter. In the fourth, NCC went on a run to cut the lead to 5 with under a minute remaining. Emmaus would clinch the game with free throws and hold on to a 66-57 victory.
The Sentinels were led in scoring by
Jazmyne Santiel with 21 points.
Bianca Casares had a tremendous outing with another double-double. She contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Camry Porter was the only other Sentinel in double figures with 12.
Nebraska Christian will have a week to prepare for a regional foe, Ecclesia College. The Sentinels beat Ecclesia in Arkansas a little over a week ago and are looking for the season sweep when the Royals come to Omaha on Saturday, February 1st. The game is set to begin at 2:00 PM Local Time and will be played at D.J. Sokol Arena. This matchup will be a double-header with the Men's Teams who will play at 4:00 PM (MBB Senior Night).
