NCC Men's Basketball Outlasts Emmaus

DUBUQUE, IA - The Nebraska Christian College Men's Basketball Team was in Dubuque for a rematch of their opening game of the season. The Sentinels ran away from Emmaus in that contest, and looked to have similar success in 2020. Emmaus Bible College had a coaching change at semester and was a different opponent this time around. The Eagles shot the ball well to open the game and held the lead multiple times to in the opening 10 minutes. However, the tough Sentinel defense settled in and only allowed the Eagles 27 first half points. The Sentinels took some time to find their groove offensively, but managed a 36-27 lead at the half. The Eagles did not fold and cut the lead to just 6 early in the second half. Nebraska Christian used their defense to fuel offense and turned stops into points and pulled away. The Sentinels made a 15-0 run to solidify themselves in the lead for good. The Sentinels would leave Iowa with an 83-54 victory.

The Sentinels were led in scoring by Tyler Durham who had 18 points on 8-12 shooting. Jordan Makanjuola came up big for his team with a 14 point, 11 rebound double-double and a perfect 5-5 from the field. Makanjuola was instrumental in that big second half run made by the Sentinels. Additionally, Isaiah Collier and Jeremiah Coleman contributed 14 and 15 points respectively.

The 11-10 Sentinels will next be on the road to Crete, NE to play Doane College. NCC will look to knock off the Tigers on Wednesday, January 29th at 7:00 PM Local Time. The game will have livestream and livestats available via www.doanestats.com.
