SPRINGDALE, AR - The Nebraska Christian Men's Basketball Team headed south for a 2 game road trip in Arkansas. Up first for the Sentinels were the Ecclesia College Royals, a regional opponent. Despite being a regular season game, the gym had a post season atmosphere. Both teams seemed to view the game as a must-win to establish themselves in regional play. The Royals jumped out first with some deep shots in the first half. NCC rallied and hit a three at the horn to trail by just 3 heading into half. The Royals and Sentinels battled hard in the second half exchanging leads and trading big time shot for big time shot. When the final horn sounded, the Sentinels had done just enough to secure the 71-69 victory on the road. This win snapped a 4 game slide for the Sentinels and was the first victory of 2020 for the squad.
The Sentinels had a quality team effort with 4 players in double figures, including 2 off the bench.
Uzi Felix led the Sentinels with 16 while
Tyler Durham contributed 14 points and a pair of 3's in his first career start.
Jeremiah Coleman and
Semaj Shepheard anchored the second unit with 14 and 10 respectively.
The Sentinels will stay in Arkansas and play at Champion Christian College on Monday the 20th before returning home. The CCC Tigers are ranked #6 in NCCAA DII and present another challenging matchup.
