McPHERSON, KS - The Nebraska Christian College Men's Basketball Team participated in the Classic for Christ hosted by Central Christian College. The Friday night matchup for the Sentinels was the Manhattan Christian College Thunder. The Sentinels pulled away in the second half to secure the 97-76 victory.
The Thunder opened up the game firing from the 3 point line and had a 12 point lead over the Sentinels. Nebraska Christian was able to regroup on the defensive end and go on a run of their own. The Sentinels regained the lead and would not give it up again. The Thunder pushed the Sentinels with another flurry of 3 pointers to close the first half, but NCC would take a 7 point lead into the half. In the second half it was all Sentinels as they stretched that lead to more than 20 before the end of the game. The Sentinels had another quality team outing with
Uzi Felix and
Drue Aguilera pacing the Sentinels with 25 and 24 points respectively. They also had a nice double-double from
Jeff Butler and 14 quality points off the bench from Freshmen
Jeremiah Coleman.
Nebraska Christian will play against the host Central Christian College Saturday night at 6:00 pm. The Tigers are currently undefeated at 3-0 on the season. Coach Williams is excited for the matchup and believes it should be another great test for his Sentinels in this young season.
