On Friday, October 4
th the Nebraska Christian College Sentinels hosted the Ecclesia College Royals in a Men's and Women's Soccer double header at beautiful Morrison Stadium. Ecclesia College won both matches; the Men won 8-2 and the Women won 3-1.
The Men kicked-off at 1:00 PM and played a tightly contested match in the first half. The Royals scored early, but
Hezrom Onchomba scored in the 41
st minute to tie the game at 1-1 going into the half. The Royals found a groove in the second half and pulled away.
Jael Resendiz converted a late penalty kick for the Sentinels, but it was too little too late. The Royals left Omaha with a victory and moved to 4-3-1 on the season.
In the second game, the Ecclesia Women started hot and scored 3 early goals. The NCC defense regrouped and began to battle back. The Sentinels held the Royals scoreless for the final 75 minutes of the contest. Madeline Aguilar continued her point streak by converting a free kick in the 56
th to bring the score to 3-1. Aguilar led NCC on a few more runs into the Royals defense, but they were unable to finish any of the goals. The Ecclesia Women moved to 2-4 on the season with the win.
The Sentinels will have a couple of days off before returning to action. The Women will host Randall University on October 8
th and the Men will host Manhattan Christian on October 9
th.
