On Saturday, October 19th the Nebraska Christian College Sentinel Men's Soccer Team hosted the Ozark Christian College Ambassadors. It was a beautiful day for soccer and the teams rewarded the spectators with tough competition. In a back and forth game, the Ambassadors just edged the Sentinels by a final score of 3-2.
The first part of the game was back and forth. Each team made a couple of runs, but the defenses were ready. In the 20th minute that changed when the Ambassadors struck first on a goal. However, that lead did not last long. In less the 3 minutes, the Sentinels evened the score at 1-1 when
Hezrom Onchomba assisted
RaShawn Jackson on a goal. The Sentinels got the momentum back in their favor and entered the half at a 1-1 tie.
The Sentinel momentum paid off early in the second half. At the 46:52 mark, Onchomba was the one finding the back of the net from a
Stone Webber assist. With the Sentinels up 2-1, the Ambassadors converted on a corner kick in the 59th minute to even the score at 2-2. Ozark Christian would convert another corner kick in the 79th minute to take the 3-2 lead. The Sentinels had a couple of opportunities to even the score late, but could not convert.
The Ambassadors move to 4-7-1 on the season and will host Barclay College on October 26th. The Sentinels move to 4-9-0 on the year and will regroup quickly to host Faith Baptist Bible (6-8-0) on Monday, October 21st. This will be the last home game for Nebraska Christian College this year and will be a double-header with the Women's Program.
