On Friday, October 11
th, 2019 the Nebraska Christian College Sentinels played host to the Lincoln Christian University Red Lions for a double-header in Women's and Men's Soccer. The rivalry matchup was played at beautiful Morrison Stadium and did not disappoint the faithful fans that came out to support.
The Men's game was loud from start to finish as the Nebraska Christian College Basketball Teams led the student section in cheers for the duration.
RaShawn Jackson channeled that early energy to a solo goal at just 8:05 into the contest. Jackson broke down multiple defenders on his way to his 7
th goal on the season. The 1-0 Sentinel lead would stand into the half.
The second half was a battle for each team. They continued to feed off the energetic crowd and provide a very competitive match. Each team's defense was pressured at times in the second half, but both held firm. In the end, it was the Sentinels that would secure the 1-0 victory in the first meeting of the rivals this season.
An excited Coach Tosaya commented on how great it was to have everyone healthy for this match. "It was nice to have all of our options available on offense and defense tonight. The guys really built off the effort from Wednesday and seem to have found a bit of a groove. I really hope we can keep this attack mentality going forward."
Lincoln Christian (0-13-1) will next play at Maranatha Baptist University on October 19
th. Nebraska Christian (4-7-0) will go to Manhattan Christian on October 17
th. The Red Lions will host the Sentinels in Illinois on October 25
th for next chapter in this rivalry.
