NCC Drops to Oklahoma Wesleyan

NCC Women's Basketball traveled to Bellevue, Nebraska to take on Oklahoma Wesleyan University at the Bellevue University Classic on Thursday, November 1.
 
The Sentinels were first to score, quickly followed by Oklahoma Wesleyan. After the 2-2 tie, NCC held on to a slight lead for the remainder of the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, NCC led by 3 (12-9). Back-to-back buckets for Oklahoma Wesleyan gave them their first lead of the game. The Sentinels would stick close for the rest of the half, only allowing a 6-point deficit. At the half, NCC trailed by 5 (26-31).
 
Oklahoma Wesleyan continued their offensive momentum in the second half and quickly extended their lead to double digits. At the end of the third quarter, NCC was down by 11 (47-58). In the fourth quarter, the Sentinels struggled to stop Oklahoma Wesleyan's run, finding themselves at a 20-point deficit as the game was coming to a close. In the end, the Sentinels fell short, resulting in the 60-78 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan.
 
Jazmyne Santiel led the Sentinels with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Alexis Frondarina ended with 12 points followed by Camry Porter with 11 points.
 
For Oklahoma Wesleyan, Makayla Melton scored 19 points.
 
Next, the Sentinels will take on Midland University in their second and final game of the Bellevue Classic on Saturday, November 3 at 4 p.m.
