NCC Comes Up Short Against Bethel

NCC Women's Basketball traveled to North Newton, Kansas to take on Bethel College on October 29.
 
The Sentinels added the first points to the game, but Bethel quickly answered. Both teams exchanged buckets for most of the first quarter but Bethel gained some momentum near the end of the quarter and NCC found themselves with a 6-point deficit going into the second quarter (15-21). The Sentinels started the second quarter with a 19-2 run, giving them a 10-point lead.  Going into halftime, the Sentinels held a 10-point lead over Bethel (36-26).
 
In the second half, NCC continued to build on their lead. Going into the fourth quarter, the Sentinels led by 14 points (53-39). 3 more buckets to open the fourth quarter gave NCC a 20-points advantage over Bethel (59-39).  Bethel began to slowly cut into the lead and foul trouble began to become a problem for NCC. Bethel closed the game with an 18-1 run, making the final score (64-67) in favor of Bethel.
 
Jazmyne Santiel led the Sentinels with a career-high 35 points. Camry Porter was one point shy of a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
 
For Bethel, Abby Schmidt had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Next, the Sentinels will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to take on College of Saint Mary of Wednesday, October 31 at 6p.m.
