NCC Women's Basketball kicked off their season by hosting Bethany College on October 26.
The Sentinels were first to score, but back-to-back buckets from Bethany gave them the lead. Both teams exchanged baskets throughout the first quarter and a 7-0 run for Bethany to close the quarter put NCC down 10-16 going into the second quarter. Bethany maintained their lead for the entire second quarter culminating with an 11 point lead going into halftime. At the half, NCC trailed 21-32.
In the second half, the Sentinels worked to close the deficit, however going into the fourth quarter, Bethany held an 18 point lead (37-55). Bethany extended their lead to as many as 28 points but a short run from NCC brought the lead down to 21. In the end, the Sentinels came out with the 55-76 loss to Bethany.
Jazmyne Santiel led the Sentinels with 22 points.
Kayla Bloodworth tied her career high in blocks with 14.
For Bethany, Lauren Welsch scored 11 points, followed by Sarah Bartel with 10 points.
Next, the Sentinels will travel to North Newton, Kansas to take on Bethel College on Monday, October 29 at 6p.m.
