Sentinel Men Drop Match to Presentation at Home
Jacob Heck
The NCC Men's Soccer Team played host to the Presentation College Saints on Saturday, September 7
th. There were a few rain showers, but the weather held long enough for the Saints to take home a 9-2 victory. Despite the final score, it was a very competitive matchup between the two teams.
The first half was a back and forth battle. Neither team had much of an edge in possession as they jostled for an advantage leading into the half. The rain made play difficult as the Saints took a 1-0 lead into half.
The second half saw clearer skies and better conditions as the teams were able to establish some offense. The Saints found their groove quicker scoring 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of the half. Presentation would go on to score 5 more goals throughout the course of the game, including a 4-goal performance from Kieren Clarke.
Nebraska Christian did leave the game on a positive note as Freshman
RaShawn Jackson (5) found the back of the net twice. Jackson used his speed to set up some fantastic looks for the Sentinels. The goals seemed to unite NCC to finish the game strong and build going into their next contest.
Presentation College (1-2-0) will play again at home against Dordt College on Wednesday, September 11
th. The Sentinels (1-3-0) will try to build on that offensive momentum against Calvary University in Kansas City, MO on Friday, September 13
