On Saturday, September 28
th the Nebraska Christian College Women's Soccer Team hosted the Manhattan Christian Thunder. Each team was seeking their first win of the season, and it was the Sentinels who came out victorious. Led by an offensive explosion, NCC claimed the 5-1 victory at home.
Nebraska Christian wasted no time in scoring thanks to a goal by
Naomi Boland just 2:08 into the contest. This was Naomi's first goal of the season and it was assisted by
Madeline Aguilar. The Thunder would then even the score with a goal at 21:30 into the game. The two teams continued to battle for possession and control of the game. Nebraska Christian made some position changes due to injury, and
Madeline Aguilar took over the game.
Aguilar gave the Sentinels the lead with a goal at 28:30. She then converted a free kick to points at 30:40 for a 3-1 lead going into the half. Aguilar was not done and completed her hat trick on the day with a deep shot that sailed over the keeper's head into the back of the net at 66:43. Aguilar was all over the field and helped transform what had been a quiet offense for the Sentinels so far this season.
Camry Porter would cap off the day for the Sentinels with a goal at 79:16.
Coach Tosaya was so happy for the girls after the game. "We have really had a tough start to the season, but the girls keep putting in the time and getting better every game. It was really rewarding to watch them put it together today and earn a win."
