The Nebraska Christian Men's Soccer Team traveled to Leavenworth, KS to face off against the University of St. Mary on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Fresh off a narrow victory against Calvary University, the Sentinels looked to upset the Spires who play very tough at home. In the end, St. Mary's would prevail with a final score of 5-0.

The Spires came out hot at home scoring 3 goals in the first 21 minutes of play. The Sentinel offense didn't have much going and a first half injury left the team short-handed for the rest of the match. The Sentinels really battled defensively and held the score at 3-0 for the next 60 minutes.

Dakota Fox was tested in the goal but helped keep the game within reach by recording 12 saves on the day. Late in the game, the depth of St. Mary's overwhelmed the Sentinels as they recorded 2 late goals to cap off the game.

Coach Tosaya was hoping for a win, but still found a lot about this game encouraging. "I'm really proud of the guys' effort today. It would have been easy to roll over early in this game, but we didn't do that. Our team really competed and finished the game, which is something that we can continue to build on moving forward." The coaching staff is looking forward to getting everyone healthy and being able to play some games at full strength.

St. Mary's (3-2-0) is set to host Randall University on Friday, September 20th. Nebraska Christian College (2-4-0) will be back in action on Friday, September 27th at the University of Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, NE.
