NCC Women's Basketball closed out the regular season by traveling to Denver, Colorado to take on Johnson & Wales University on February 23.
The Sentinels started off strong and gained a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter (25-15). NCC completed a 13-0 run from the en of the first quarter into the second quarter, giving them the 20-point advantage over Johnson & Wales (35-15). Johnson & Wales was able to cut into the lead before halftime, but NCC still held on to a 13-point advantage at the end of the half (38-25).
In the third quarter, another short run from the Sentinels gave them a 21-point lead going into the fourth quarter (53-32). NCC continued to extend their lead in the fourth quarter and came out with the 26-point win over Johnson & Wales (71-45).
Jazmyne Santiel led all scorers with 30 points. Santiel also had 10 rebounds, completing a double-double.
Kayla Bloodworth added 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks and
Bianca Casares finished with 8 points.
For Johnson & Wales, Brianna Bailey scored 19 points.
Next, the Sentinels will continue on to Regionals in Moore, Oklahoma taking on the #1 seed Mid-America University on Wednesday, March 6 at 3p.m.
