OMAHA, NE - Nebraska Christian College Men's Basketball hosted the Haskell Indian Nations in the night cap game of the Bellevue/NCC Classic. The Sentinels were very strong defensively in the first half holding Haskell to just 27 points on 25% shooting. On offense,
Drue Aguilera was clicking in his first game of the season. Aguilera led the Sentinels with 23 of the team's 35 first half points. However, Haskell was not done. They came out firing in the second half converting 40% of their field goals and 16 of their 18 free throws. The lead went back and forth, but Haskell held a 70-69 lead with 2:36 remaining in the ball game and
Uzi Felix at the line. Felix hit them both and gave the Sentinels the lead for good. NCC closed the game on an 8-2 run to win 77-72. Despite giving up 45 second half points, the Sentinels were able to hang on largely due to
Uzi Felix's 26 second half points.
Aguilera had a game high 27 points and Felix contributed 26 points and 11 rebounds for the Sentinels. After the game Coach Williams was just pleased to get the win. "This was a fantastic team win for us. Haskell is a very good team and it just feels good to be on top at the end."
NCC will host Briar Cliff Saturday in the second game of the Bellevue/NCC Classic.
