The Sentinels Defeat Lincoln Christian

NCC Women's Basketball traveled to Lincoln, Illinois to take on Lincoln Christian University on February 17.

Bot teams played evenly in the first quarter, with 6 lead changes in the first ten minutes of play. Lincoln Christian held a 4-point lead going into the second quarter (18-22). In the second quarter, the Sentinels went on an 11-0 run, giving them a 7-point advantage over Lincoln Christian (33-26). At the half, NCC had extended their lead to 9 points (38-29). 

The Sentinels maintained their lead for the entire third quarter, building the lead up to double-digits, as well as Lincoln Christian coming within 2 points of the Sentinels. Going into the fourth quarter, NCC held a 7-point lead (57-50). Lincoln Christian stared the fourth quarter on an 11-0 run and the Sentinels quickly found themselves trailing with 7 minutes left in the game (57-61). NCC closed the game on an 18-4 run, giving them the 11-point victory over Lincoln Christian (76-65).

Kayla Bloodworth reached her 1,000 points in the win and was one block away from a triple double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 blocks. Alexis Frondarina rejoined the Sentinels line up after missing the last 5 games due to injury. Frondarina recorded a career-high 27 points, leading all scorers. Jerrica Perez totaled 12 points and 5 rebounds and Aleita Amparan finished with 10 points. 

Lincoln Christian's leading scorer was Katie Dial with 14 points, followed by Abigail Crockett with 13 points.

Next, the Sentinels will finish the season by traveling to Omaha, NE to take on Grace University on Wednesday, February 21 at 6:30p.m.
