NCC Comes Up Short Against Lincoln Christian
NCC Men's Basketball traveled to Lincoln, Illinois to take on Lincoln Christian University on February 17.
The Sentinels gained control of the game from the beginning. NCC went on an early 9-0 run giving them the 9-point advantage over Lincoln Christian (17-8). Lincoln Christian answered with a 14-0 run, giving them their first lead of the game (20-22). The Sentinels regained their lead and managed to build it back up to 9 points going into halftime (41-32).
NCC extended their lead to double digits in the beginning of the second half, leading by as many as 12 (52-40). Lincoln Christian began to slowly cut into the lead, with just under 4 minutes remaining; Lincoln Christian had regained the lead (65-66). NCC quickly reclaimed their lead (67-66) Lincoln Christian outscored the Sentinels 11-5 in the closing two minutes of the game resulting in the 77-72 loss for NCC.
DJ Hanes led the Sentinels in scoring with 26 points.
TJ Rivera finished with 14 points.
Matt Lillquist led the team in rebounds with 9. Lillquist also totaled 8 points.
Devin Jones finished with a career-high 8 assists. Jones also had 7 points and 5 rebounds.
Lincoln Christian's leading scorer was Zach Thompson with 22 points.
Next, the Sentinels will finish the season by traveling to McPherson, KS to take on Central Christian College on Tuesday, February 20 at 7p.m.
