NCC Upsets NAIA GPAC Doane College

NCC Men's Basketball traveled to Crete, Nebraska to take on Doane College on February 11.
 
The Sentinels took the early lead to start the game. NCC led by 8 points midway through the first half. However, Doane managed a 12-0 run, which gave them their first lead of the game (28-31). The Sentinels quickly regained the lead and held onto it for the remained of the half. At the half, NCC held a 3-point lead over Doane (46-43).
 
Although Doane would stick close and continually contest the Sentinels, NCC never gave up their lead in the second half. The Sentinels held a 17-point lead with just under 6 minutes remaining in the game (91-74). Doane went on a 10-0 run, which pulled them within 1-point of NCC with 19 seconds left (99-98). Both teams were perfect from the line in the closing 17 seconds, NCC making 6-6 and Doane 3-3. In the end the Sentinels pulled out the 105-101 victory over Doane.
 
DJ Hanes led the Sentinels with 44 points and 5 assists. Jordan Makanjuola recorded a career-high 24 points. TJ Rivera finished with 14 points followed by Isaiah Collier with 13 points. Matt Lillquist led the team in rebounds with 9. Lillquist also had 7 points.
 
Doane's leading scorer was Nick Kornieck with 25 points.
 
Next, the Sentinels will travel to Lawrence, KS to take on Haskell Indian Nations University on Tuesday, February 13 at 7p.m.
