NCC Women's Basketball traveled to Dubuque, Iowa to take on Emmaus University on November 27.
The Sentinels got off to a good start, quickly securing a 10-point lead (14-4) midway through the first quarter. Emmaus answered with an 11-0 run giving them their first lead of the game (14-15). A couple of buckets from the Sentinels to close the quarter gave them the 19-15 lead going into the second quarter. NCC continued to extend the gap in the second quarter, leading by as many as 17. At the half, the Sentinels led by 13 (38-25).
Both teams exchanged baskets during the third quarter and NCC held on to their 13-point lead going into the fourth quarter (53-40). Emmaus slowly began chipping away at the lead including an 8-0 run of free throws that brought Emmaus within one point of the Sentinels with 3 minutes left. Made free throws by the Sentinels to close the game helped secure their 5-point victory over Emmaus (70-65).
Kayla Bloodworth finished with 23 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 blocks.
Alexis Frondarina added 13 points.
Jessica Hinde and
Camry Porter both dished out 5 assists.
For Emmaus Nakiah Kimble totaled 18 points followed by Kia Gelinas with 17 points.
Next, the Sentinels will travel to Mayville, Missouri to take on Northwest Missouri State in and Exhibition game on Saturday, December 1 at 1p.m.
