NCC's Comeback Falls Short

NCC Men's Basketball traveled to Aberdeen, South Dakota to take on the Presentation College Saints on January 2.
 
Presentation opened the game on a 7-0 run. Midway through the first half, the Sentinels found themselves down by 18 (34-16). NCC trailed by as many as 26 in the first half, but managed to cut the deficit to 19 at the half (58-39).
 
NCC came out of halftime ready to cut into the lead and put themselves back in the game. Early in the second half the Sentinels managed a 15-2 run bringing them within 6 points of the Saints (67-61). However, with just under three minutes remaining, Presentation had regained an 11-point advantage (95-84). The Sentinels tried to extend the game but the Saints were a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line in the closing minutes. In the end, NCC suffered the 101-95 loss to Presentation College.
 
DJ Hanes led the Sentinels with 42 points. Matt Lillquist recorded a season-high 19 points including 4-5 from beyond the arc. Lillquist also led the team in rebounds with 9 total. TJ Rivera totaled 14 points.
 
Presentation's leading scorer was Julius Jackson with 33 points.
 
Next, the Sentinels will travel to Bellevue, NE to take on Bellevue University on Tuesday, January 9 at 7p.m.
