NCC's Comeback Falls Short

NCC Women's Basketball hosted Grace University on January 16.
 
Grace took the early two-point lead, but back-to-back buckets from the Sentinels gave them the 5-2 lead. Both teams continued to exchange baskets and with just under 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter the score was tied 15-15. Grace closed the quarter on a 10-1 run, putting NCC down by 9 at the end of the first quarter (25-16). Grace added 5 more points to their run in the beginning of the second quarter and extended their lead to 14 (30-16). NCC finished the half with 6 unanswered points to pull back within 9 going into halftime.
 
Midway through the third quarter, Grace had their largest lead of the game with a 17-point advantage (54-37). NCC worked to cut back into their lead and managed to cut the lead to 9 going into the fourth quarter (60-51). The Sentinels pulled together for a 12-3 run to tie the game with four minutes remaining in the game. With one minute left, NCC was down by 5. A layup from the Sentinels brought them back within three-points with 27 seconds remaining. In the end, the Sentinels comeback fell just shy with the final score of 70-67.
 
NCC's leading scorer was Aleita Amparan with 22. Amparan also had 7 rebounds. Jessica Hinde finished with 15 points and Janice Saulters totaled 10 points. Kayla Bloodworth had 8 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks and Alexis Frondarina had 8 points and 5 assists.
 
Grace's leading scorer Was Karen Orozco with 26 points.
 
Next, the Sentinels will host Emmaus Bible College on Friday, January 19 at 5p.m.
