The Sentinels Fall to Bellevue
NCC Men's Basketball traveled to Bellevue, Nebraska to take on Bellevue University on January 9.
The Sentinels came into the contest hoping to break their two-game losing streak. Bellevue was also coming into the game hoping to bounce back from a loss in their last game.
Bellevue took the early 5-0 lead, NCC quickly added some points on the board making the score 5-4. However, an 15-2 run from Bellevue extended their to 12 points (20-8) with 11:30 remaining in the first half. The Sentinels worked to cut into the lead, but were only able to come within 7 points of Bellevue during the first half. At the half, NCC trailed by 12 (42-30).
A 15-2 run from Bellevue in the opening minutes of the second half gave them their largest lead of the game 62-36. This run proved to be detrimental for NCC. The Sentinels tried to make up the deficit, but could only manage to cut the lead to 15. In the end, NCC suffered their third loss in a row 92-70.
With this loss, NCC drops to 11-6 overall and Bellevue improves to 11-8.
DJ Hanes led the Sentinels in scoring with 37 points.
Chrys Jackson added 10 points and
Devin Jones totaled 9 points and 4 assists.
Bellevue's leading scorers were Blake Wilder and Richard Reed each with 10 points.
Next, the Sentinels will travel to Lincoln, NE to take on Union College on Saturday, January 13 at 8p.m.
