NCC Defeats #10 Manhttan
NCC Men's Basketball traveled to Manhattan, Kansas to take on NCCAA DII #10 ranked Manhattan Christian College on December 2.
Manhattan took the early 6-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game. NCC cut into the lead and managed to tie the game 16-16 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the first half. A 12-0 run from the Sentinels at the end of the half brought their lead to 9. Manhattan answered with 2 quick buckets, bringing the lead down to 5 going into halftime (39-34).
Within the first five minutes of the second half NCC had built their lead up to 12 points. Manhattan worked to cut into the lead for the remainder of the game coming within 3 points of NCC with 5 minutes remaining. The Sentinels went 7-8 from the free throw line in the last minute of regulation, carrying NCC to their 75-69 victory over Manhattan. The Sentinels continue their win streak, improving to 3 consecutive wins and 8-2 overall. Manhattan falls to 3-5.
The Sentinels' leading scorer was DJ Hanes with 39 points. Chrys Jackson totaled 16 points and Matt Lillquist pulled down 9 rebounds.
Manhattan's leading scorer was Sheldon Williams with 30 points.
Next, the Sentinels will travel to Wayne, NE to take on Wayne State College in an Exhibition game on Tuesday, December 5 at 7p.m.
