The Sentinels Defeat Barclay in Their Season Opener

NCC Men's Basketball kicked off their season by hosting Barclay College on October 27.
 
The Sentinels started out with a quick 5-0 lead. Barclay soon got their offense going and tied the game 9-9 and continued to go on a 12-0 run after tying the game. NCC would slowly cut away at the lead and regain the lead 31-27 midway through the first half. The Sentinels would continue on a 12-2 run that gave them an edge over Barclay for the remainder of the half. NCC had a 6-point advantage going into halftime, 57-51.
 
NCC continued to build on their lead in the second half, leading by as many as 13. Barclay then went on a 15-3 run and tied the game at 72. Both teams continued to exchange baskets, keeping the game within two points for either team for a majority of the second half. Near the end of the game, the Sentinels began to pull ahead of Barclay. Made free throws sealed the game for NCC. The Sentinels made history by defeating Barclay 110-101 in the first Sentinel basketball victory.
 
Junior DJ Hanes started off the year with a double double including a career high 48 points along with 13 rebounds and 3 steals. Chrys Jackson also recorded a double double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists. Matt Lillquist also had a double double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
 
Barclay's leading scorer was Jeremy Orieh with 22 points, followed by Lex Pena with 21 points and 8 rebounds. 
 
Next, the Sentinels will host St. Louis Christian College on Saturday, October 28 at 2p.m.
